Four Things You Wish You Knew About Scout

Scout5Things

Have you ever wondered if there were things you could do to manage your Avtec Scout system faster? Here are 4 shortcuts that you just can’t live without.

  1. Have you ever gotten tired of creating line buttons and having to associate them with an endpoint? Did you know that you can select an endpoint from the list in Project Manager and drag/drop it onto a screen? It will associate the endpoint automatically.
  2. Have you ever had line pads on the console in error and wonder why? Did you know that you can view the endpoints a console can see by going to “Diagnostics,” then” Endpoints” on the console’s web page. If the endpoint is missing then the console can’t see it. If it appears in the list you can double click on the name to check the status of the endpoint.
  3. Have you ever struggled with creating the same configuration on a second VPgate? Did you know that you can create a backup from one VPGate and import it to another by going to “VPGate,” then “Backup or Restore” on the VPGate’s web page. When you import you have the option to “Restore” or “Import” a configuration. If you are importing you can select the settings, drivers and or aliases. You have the option to change the VPGate name and the port range.
  4. Have you ever gotten confused when trying to configure endpoints in VPGate? Did you know that if you select the VPGate Endpoints tab, you can change the name, state or priority by selecting the edit icon? You can open a driver or add a driver by selecting the > button next to the endpoint name.
