Michael T. Branning is the chief executive officer of Avtec, Inc., the leading independent provider of mission-critical console systems in North America. For nearly a quarter century, Branning has been charged with setting the company’s vision and ensuring Avtec’s products and services have evolved, as new technologies have transformed the way by which communications centers interact with customers, employees, and other resources.
Since joining Avtec as a design engineer in 1986, Branning took on roles of increasing responsibility, until being named company president and CEO in 1993. In this role, Branning directed the worldwide sales, operations, product development, and marketing strategy for the organization.
Under Branning’s leadership, annual sales quadrupled – in large part due to Avtec’s decade-long evolution from Time-division Multiplexing (TDM) products to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) console solutions. Today, more than 5,000 Scout™ VoIP console are deployed in communications centers across the globe, ranging from Fortune 100 companies to call centers in small cities.
In 2016, Branning yielded his day-to-day operational duties to Avtec President Kevin Williams. The change allows Branning to focus on Avtec’s technology strategy, long-term business direction, company performance, and company culture.
Founded in 1979, Avtec remains privately held, and is headquartered in South Carolina. The company employs more than 100 professionals who support more than 1,000 customer sites in the public safety, transportation, utility, business, and government markets.
Since 2003, Branning has been an active member of Vistage International, the world’s leading chief executive organization. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, with a concentration in economics, from Clemson University. Michael and his wife, Kelly, have three children and reside in Lexington, S.C.
