Leading Provider of IP Dispatch Consoles Taps Kevin Knowles for Avtec’s Expanded Services Group
Lexington, S.C. – June 16, 2015 – Avtec Inc., the leading provider of pure IP dispatch console systems for Land Mobile Radio (LMR) applications, has hired Kevin Knowles to the new position of Vice President of Services and Solutions. Avtec President Michael Branning announced the appointment on March 9.
Knowles, a 30-year veteran of the communications systems industry, will leverage Avtec’s reputation as a leader in customer service and cultivate an expanded focus on delivering continuous value – through upgrade paths and the ScoutCare support program – to Avtec’s console system clients.

After a successful system deployment, they depend on us to deliver new capabilities through software upgrades, which will extend the useful life of the system indefinitely. Through training and consultative assistance, we must help organizations improve operational efficiencies and delight their console users,” said Branning. “To meet these challenges, we have increased the size and capabilities of our Professional Services group. With Kevin Knowles’ background and experience, he is ideally suited to lead this charter.”
Knowles’ tenure with General Dynamics spanned nearly 20 years, culminating in his most recent role as Director, Command and Control (C2) Communications Programs for General Dynamic’s Information Technology (GDIT) organization. Knowles led command and control efforts on behalf of GDIT for various mission-critical U.S. government contracts – earning a reputation for balancing budgets, expectations and deliverables to ensure optimal results for provider and client.
Prior to joining General Dynamics, Knowles was a Program Manager for the U.S. Air Force, overseeing a multi-national team that sustained and modernized an early-warning radar system that was a joint effort of U.S. and Canadian military interests. Knowles holds an M.S. in management from the Florida Institute of Technology, and completed his undergraduate studies at the New School for Social Research.
