P25 Phase 2 Public Safety Issues To Be Discussed At Industry Roundtable

Gilbert, S.C. (October 18, 2011) –  Fifteen public safety experts and end-users will gather in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Oct. 19 to discuss the impact of Project 25 ( P25) Phase 2 on public safety organizations. The roundtable event will be hosted by Tait Radio Communications in partnership with Mission Critical magazine. During the session, attendees will gain practical advice and draw on the experiences of other public safety professionals and industry experts.

Michael Branning, president of Avtec, Inc., the leading provider of mission-critical consoles in North America, has been selected to participate in the event and will address interoperability between multiple P25 products, migration tactics, and planning strategies. “Avtec’s Scout console software is fully P25 Phase 2 compliant,” said Kevin Williams, vice president of product development at Avtec. “When we designed the product architecture, we made sure it contained all the components, including audio decoding, to meet P25 Phase 2 compliance criteria.”

The event is being hosted to address questions arising in the market. “Public safety agencies affected by the P25 Phase 2 migration want to understand how it will impact them and what they should be doing now to plan for it,” said Russell Watson, Tait solutions marketing manager. Industry professionals are encouraged contribute ideas and questions to the P25 Phase 2 online forum at p25phase2.com. Popular questions will be presented to the expert panel. Event summaries, video, and a full transcript of the discussion will be made available through the online forum shortly after the event.
