Project 25 Radio Technologies
The Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO) has fostered establishment of standards to support advanced, interoperable, multi-vendor radio solutions. The two key standards applicable to console systems are the P25 DFSI (Digital Fixed Station Interface) and P25 CSSI (Console Sub-System Interface). P25 DSFI is an IP connection directly to the base station radio for conventional systems. P25 CSSI is an IP connection to the P25 RF Subsystem (RFSS), primarily for Trunked systems (although a P25 RFSS can also connect to conventional P25 base stations).
Avtec supports APCO in this endeavor through an offer of both the P25 DFSI Conventional and P25 CSSI Trunked radio interfaces in our Scout P25 Console system. We are committed to testing these interfaces with the P25 CAP Program at such time as testing standards for P25 DFSI and P25 CSSI are released. Until then, Avtec will work closely with P25 radio and RFSS Manufacturers to self-certify the interfaces. The Scout P25 Console system has been tested for compliance and is currently deployed with P25 Conventional Repeaters from both Daniels Electronics and Tait Radio Communications. Scout has also been tested with the P25 Trunked radio system from Cassidian (EADS) and Tait Radio Communications.
Combined with conventional radio interfaces and analog/SIP telephony, Scout provides a powerful P25 Console solution to help organizations bridge the gap between legacy and new technologies.
